Legend Boats Vice President Jesse Davis Joins National Boating Industry Delegation on Parliament Hill

Jesse Davis, Vice President of Legend Boats, joined fellow industry leaders in Ottawa this week for “Day on the Hill,” a national advocacy event organized by NMMA Canada and supported by Bluesky Strategy Group. The delegation met with senior government officials and Members of Parliament to advance the interests of Canada’s recreational boating sector.
Davis was part of Group 2, alongside Rick Layzell (CMRA & Boating Ontario), Rodier Grondin (Princecraft), Krista Sparkes (Smoker Craft Boats), and Cameron Taylor (Working Capital). Together, the group held a series of meetings with federal policymakers including:

Key issues discussed included:
- Repealing the Federal Luxury Tax: Participants highlighted how the tax has failed to meet its revenue goals, triggered a 70% drop in higher-value boat sales, and caused significant job losses and economic ripple effects in rural communities.
- Protecting Against Tariffs: With looming U.S. tariffs on Canadian marine exports, the group called for government action to preserve global competitiveness and protect vulnerable domestic manufacturers.
- Investing in Marine Infrastructure: Industry leaders advocated for federal support of recreational boating infrastructure—including docks, launch ramps, and marina upgrades—especially in national parks and rural regions.
- Supporting Environmental Innovation: Davis and the group urged the creation of a federal R&D fund to accelerate clean propulsion technology and expand electric charging networks in marinas.
- Taking a Balanced Approach to Safety: While reinforcing support for boater safety, the delegation voiced concerns about a one-size-fits-all mandate on lifejacket use and encouraged evidence-based, consultative policymaking.
“The Canadian boating industry contributes over $9.2 billion to our national economy and supports more than 80,000 jobs—many in rural and coastal communities,” said Jesse Davis. “Our message to the government was clear: smart policy, meaningful investment, and fair trade protection are essential to preserving jobs, growing our sector, and ensuring Canadians can continue enjoying our waters responsibly.”

Jesse Davis, vice-président de Bateaux Legend, s’est joint à d’autres chefs de file de l’industrie à Ottawa cette semaine pour la « Journée sur la Colline », un événement national de défense des intérêts organisé par la « NMMA Canada » et soutenu par Bluesky Strategy Group. La délégation a rencontré des hauts fonctionnaires et des membres du Parlement afin de promouvoir les intérêts du secteur de la navigation de plaisance au Canada.
Davis faisait partie du groupe 2, aux côtés de Rick Layzell (CMRA et Boating Ontario), Rodier Grondin (Princecraft), Krista Sparkes (Smoker Craft Boats) et Cameron Taylor (Working Capital). Ensemble, le groupe a tenu une série de réunions avec des décideurs fédéraux, notamment:

Les principaux points abordés incluaient:
- Abrogation de la taxe fédérale sur les produits de luxe: les participants ont souligné que cette taxe n’avait pas atteint ses objectifs en matière de revenus, qu’elle avait entraîné une baisse de 70 % des ventes de bateaux haut de gamme et qu’elle avait causé d’importantes pertes d’emplois ainsi que des répercussions économiques dans les communautés rurales.
- Protection contre les droits de douane: face à la menace des droits de douane américains sur les exportations maritimes canadiennes, le groupe a demandé au gouvernement de prendre des mesures pour sauvegarder la compétitivité globale et protéger les fabricants canadiens vulnérables.
- Investir dans les infrastructures maritimes: les chefs de file de l’industrie ont plaidé en faveur d’un soutien fédéral pour les infrastructures de navigation de plaisance, notamment les quais, les rampes de mise à l’eau et la modernisation des marinas, en particulier dans les parcs nationaux et les régions rurales.
- Soutenir l’innovation environnementale: Davis et le groupe ont demandé la création d’un fonds fédéral de recherche et développement afin d’accélérer le développement des technologies de propulsion propres et d’étendre les réseaux de recharge électrique dans les marinas.
- Adopter une approche équilibrée en matière de sécurité: tout en renforçant son soutien à la sécurité des plaisanciers, la délégation a exprimé ses préoccupations concernant l’approche systématique du port du gilet de sauvetage et a encouragé l’élaboration de politiques fondées sur des données probantes et consultatives.
« L’industrie nautique canadienne contribue à hauteur de plus de 9,2 milliards de dollars à notre économie nationale et soutient plus de 80 000 emplois, dont beaucoup sont situés dans les communautés rurales et côtières », a déclaré Jesse Davis. « Notre message au gouvernement était clair : une politique intelligente, des investissements significatifs et une protection commerciale équitable sont essentiels pour préserver les emplois, développer notre secteur et garantir que les Canadiens puissent continuer à profiter de nos plans d’eaux de manière responsable. »

Bateaux Legend s’agrandit avec une nouvelle succursale satellite à Sainte-Agathe

Bateaux Legend est fier d’annoncer l’ouverture de sa toute nouvelle succursale satellite à Sainte-Agathe, située au 4731, Route 117, Saint-Agathe-des-Monts, J8C 2Z8. Cette expansion stratégique vise à rapprocher l’expérience Bateaux Legend des clients des Laurentides, une région où de nombreuses familles ont déjà découvert le plaisir de naviguer avec Bateaux Legend.
À la tête de cette nouvelle succursale : Benoit Grenier, un visage bien connu de la famille Bateaux Legend. Fort de plusieurs années à la gestion de la succursale de Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, Benoit, résident de la communauté des Laurentides , est ravi de mener ce nouveau projet.
« C’est chez moi ici », partage Benoit Grenier. « Je suis vraiment enthousiaste à l’idée de rapprocher Bateaux Legend de notre communauté locale, et de permettre à encore plus de familles de profiter des plaisirs de la navigation. »
La succursale de Sainte-Agathe propose une sélection soignée de bateaux Legend neufs, de modèles d’années précédentes en liquidation, ainsi qu’un accès virtuel à l’inventaire de toutes les succursales Bateaux Legend au Canada. Bien qu’aucun service d’entretien direct ne soit offert sur place, un point de dépôt pratique permettra aux clients de faire acheminer leurs embarcations à notre succursale principale de Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac pour entretien.
« Les Laurentides représentent une région clé pour notre marque », souligne Maxime Alauzet, Directeur de la succursale de Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac. « Nous avons déjà aidé de nombreuses familles à profiter de l’eau ici. Ouvrir à Sainte-Agathe était une suite logique de notre expansion pour mieux servir nos clients. »

Legend Boats expands in Sainte-Agathe to bring boat sales and service even closer
Saint-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec, June 9, 2025
Legend Boats’s newest location is in the heart of the Laurentians, at 4731, Route 117, Saint-Agathe-des-Monts. This expansion brings the Legend experience closer to customers in a region where countless families have already discovered the joys of boating with Legend.
The new location is being spearheaded by Benoit Grenier, veteran store manager for Legend Boats and a long-time resident of the Laurentians community.
“This is home for me,” said Benoit Grenier. “I’m incredibly excited to bring Legend Boats closer to our community, making it easier than ever for families here to get out on the water and create lasting memories.”
The Sainte-Agathe Satellite Store will feature a curated selection of new and used models, and access to inventory from all of Legend’s retail stores nation-wide. The store will also act as a convenient drop-off and pick-up point for customers to get their boats serviced by flagship Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac facility.
“The Laurentians have been such an important region for our brand,” adds Maxime Alauzet, Store Manager of Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac. “We’ve already helped so many people get on the water here. Sainte-Agathe was the logical next step to serve our customers better.”

Legend Boats Announces Walleye Wars 2024 Across Four Provinces
SUDBURY, ONTARIO| Legend Boats is thrilled to announce its sponsorship of the Walleye Wars 2024, an exciting fishing tournament with separate events in Manitoba, Ontario, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Using the innovative MyCatch app by Angler’s Atlas, this multi-province event promises to be one of the most exhilarating fishing competitions of the year.
Tournament Schedule and Locations:
- Manitoba: June 14 – June 23, 2024
- Ontario: June 28 – July 7, 2024
- Alberta: August 30 – September 8, 2024
- Saskatchewan: Dates To Be Announced
Participants of all ages and skill levels are invited to join this Catch, Photo, Record tournament. Anglers will use the MyCatch app to submit their catches, competing for over $20,000 in cash and Legend Boats Accessories Store gift cards. The entry fee is $200 per angler, and each participant must register individually. Anglers under the age of 15 must fish with an adult.
