[OTTAWA, Ontario | June 12, 2026]
This week, Legend Boats’ Jesse Davis was proud to represent both Legend Boats and the broader Canadian recreational boating industry as part of NMMA Canada’s annual Day on the Hill in Ottawa.
The week began with NMMA Canada’s Board Meeting, followed by the association’s signature reception along the historic Rideau Canal. This year’s reception marked the highest attendance to date, bringing together Members of Parliament, Senators, government staff, policymakers, marine industry leaders, and partners for an on-water experience designed to showcase the value of recreational boating in Canada.
Throughout the reception, boats were continuously out on the water, giving government officials and decision-makers a firsthand look at what boating means to Canadians. It offered a perspective that simply cannot be replicated in a boardroom.
Vetta Pontoons, of Duhamel and Dewar Inc., was especially proud to have a Levata Pontoon on display and in operation throughout the event. The pontoon gave attendees the opportunity to experience boating firsthand on one of Canada’s most historic waterways, highlighting the lifestyle, accessibility, and enjoyment that recreational boating creates for Canadian families.
“There is no better way to tell the story of boating than by getting people out on the water,” said Jesse Davis of Legend Boats. “When policymakers can experience the joy, connection, and accessibility that boating brings to families across Canada, it creates a much deeper understanding of why our industry matters.”
Following the reception, NMMA Canada’s Board spent a day and a half meeting with Senators, Members of Parliament, ministerial staff, and senior government officials to discuss the issues that matter most to Canada’s marine industry and Canadian boaters.
Key areas of discussion included:
The meetings also provided an opportunity to thank government leaders for their support following the repeal of the federal luxury tax on boats. One year after advocacy efforts helped secure that repeal, the segment most affected by the tax is showing encouraging signs of recovery, demonstrating how effective policy decisions can create meaningful economic impact across the industry.
“What stood out most throughout the week was the spirit of collaboration,” added Davis. “Government leaders increasingly recognize NMMA Canada as a trusted industry partner that brings practical solutions, data-driven insights, and a shared commitment to growing recreational boating across the country.”
Legend Boats extends its thanks to NMMA Canada, fellow board members, industry partners, sponsors, and the many MPs, Senators, and government officials who took the time to meet with the recreational boating industry this week.
Together, these efforts are helping ensure a stronger future for boating in Canada.
